Pegasus built its first bait bike in early 2002, a brand-new Trek 4900 mountain bike nick-named Old Yeller.  This bait bicycle was deployed extensively throughout Sacramento California over the following six-year period and was quite popular with local bike thieves.  This single bicycle was ultimately stolen 33 times resulting in the arrest of 36 individuals consisting of 29 adult males, four adult females, and three juvenile males.  One interesting fact; two of the adult male arrests were of the same person.  Yes, that’s right, one guy stole the same bike twice and served two separate jail sentences for it.  Some people will just never learn. 

Old Yeller is now retired and serving out her remaining years on the bike trails for which she was originally intended.
